Last ses averaging 6.8 per game.
D'Antoni frowns upon one-on-one plays that involve a lot of dribbling, which, for some players, is a method of getting into rhythm. "Yeah, but I don't agree that's the way you play," he said. "Some guys might have to change their habits, but they can do that. He can do that."
Last night, Crawford had a very quiet first half, with just three shot attempts. After sitting for most of the third quarter, he returned midway through the fourth in a game the Knicks were leading by 17 points. Clearly, D'Antoni was trying to get the veteran to find his game.
Crawford worked a little from the point and allowed himself a few dribble moves for his trademark pull-up jumper. He sank one at the shot-clock buzzer, which is another trademark.

"There will be times when I want him to go one-on-one," D'Antoni said, "at the end of a shot clock, when that does come in handy."
However, D'Antoni said the extra dribbling isn't ever going to be worked into his philosophy - "We don't want anybody to do that," he said - and in his famously named "Seven Seconds or Less" system, there won't be too many occasions in which he envisions the need for making shots just before the shot-clock buzzer.
"We shoot way before the end of the shot clock, so he's going to have to find another part of his game," D'Antoni said. "That's kind of been eliminated."
Notes & quotes: David Lee (ankle) did not play but would have been available if it were the regular season. He is expected to play tonight. Wilson Chandler started in his place at power forward and had 22 points ... Marbury went into the crowd under the basket at halftime to sign a few autographs and take pictures with very appreciative fans.
